Our story
How it all Began
It all started with a sleeping bag. I was searching for a second-hand sleeping bag but couldn't find a trusted platform that gave me what I needed, so Gearloop was born to make buying and selling pre-loved gear easy, safe and sustainable.
Our Mission
Keep great gear in use and get more people outdoors, making adventure affordable, accessible, and better for the planet.
Our Values
Circular Adventure: Keeping good kit in motion and great adventures alive. Reuse is how we reduce waste, respect the wild, and give gear more life.
Access for All: Everyone deserves the right kit to get outside. We make high-quality gear more affordable and accessible, lowering the barriers to adventure.
Built on Trust: Gearloop is built on trust, not transactions. It’s a space where like-minded outdoor folk connect, share knowledge, and look out for each other while exchanging great kit.
Give Back to the Wild: We owe everything to the places we explore. That’s why a share of our success supports access, and conservation efforts as well as charities supporting the outdoors in the UK.
Who is Gearloop for?
Gearloop is for anyone who loves being outside and wants to buy or sell quality kit responsibly. Whether you're a long-time hillwalker, a weekend wild camper, a family going camping or a teenager embarking on your DoE, if you care about the gear you use and the places it takes you, this is for you.

FAQsWhose idea was Gearloop?
I’ve been into the outdoors for as long as I can remember. It started with Scouts and DofE, carrying too much kit on rainy hills, learning about the mountains and developing a love for the outdoors and the kit you carry.
Since then, I’ve trekked, camped, climbed and paddled in some incredible places, from Patagonia to the Himalayas, but my heart’s firmly in the UK: the fells of the Lakes, the peaks of Snowdonia, the wild beaches of Cornwall.
I started Gearloop because I wanted a better way to pass on quality kit while doing something that contributes positively to the environment we love. I aways try to buy pre-loved and I hate seeing great gear end up in landfill or sat unused in garages.
This isn’t just another marketplace. It’s a community built for people who know their gear and want to keep it moving. As we grow, we hope to include gear reviews, route reviews, forums and other valuable resources to help people keep enjoying new adventures. We hope it will help make quality kit affordable and accessible for everyone, especially those discovering their outdoor passions for the first time.
We also plan to give back to those organisations that are supporting access to and conservation of our natural environment as well as those charities keeping us safe as we adventure.
We’re small, independent, and building this carefully with the hope it becomes something useful, trusted, and meaningful. If you have any ideas or feedback, we would love to hear how we can make Gearloop what you need it to be.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, you’re very welcome. Whether you're selling, buying, browsing or just curious, thanks for being here.
